HDC’s virtual Annual General Meeting (AGM) was held on Thursday, September 26th 2019. The AGM included discussion of achievements from the past year, the audited financial report review, and elections for five Board Director vacancies.  Ms Gayle Grout and Dr Julie Nguyen (pictured above) were elected, while Dr Anthon Meyer, Dr Shirley Sze and Dr Brenna Lynn PhD were re-elected to a second term.

HDC is the largest primary care data sharing network in BC.  Participation in the HDC network grew by 30% over the past year in BC to more than 440 participants and 440,000 patient records. In discussion, input was invited on the use of HDC data to support system initiatives such as Primary Care Networks (PCNs).  HDC’s potential as a means for physicians to provide leadership in a learning health system became a focus for member input and discussion.

With the re-election of Dr Brenna Lynn, Associate Dean of UBC CPD, as a Public Director, the partnership with UBC Continuing Professional Development (CPD) is poised to expand as well.  This collaboration has been integral for data-informed learning modules which support practice improvement. HDC has benefited greatly from Brenna’s input and expertise which connects practice reflection with Continuing Professional Development (CPD)and a learning health system.

Dr Cole Stanley, Chair of the Nominations Committee, shared enthusiasm at the expansion of the board. “We are all excited to have Gayle Grout and Julie Nguyen joining our Board. Julie is a family physician and EMR “super-user” in Vancouver with a passion for QI, while Gayle brings us another business perspective, having worked with a major EMR company on developing their embedded dashboard tools.”

Welcome, Gayle and Julie!
