The Health Data Coalition (HDC) has signed an adaptor development agreement with Intrahealth, a software company that supplies world-class solutions to the Canadian healthcare market. This new adaptor will empower the 700 physicians, across all 35 Divisions of Family Practice, who use Profile, Intrahealth’s electronic medical record (EMR) system, to securely contribute, share and compare aggregated EMR data in the HDC platform, in the fall of 2018.
Supporting networks of physicians in the collaborative use of data, the Health Data Coalition (HDC) is a physician-led, federally registered not-for-profit association that encourages self-reflection and facilitates quality improvements in patient care. The HDC application provides secure access to aggregated clinical data while maintaining both patient and physician confidentiality.
HDC and Intrahealth are working together to support an efficient process for enrolling data contributors. Profile EMR users are encouraged to register for HDC now, to familiarize themselves with more than 200 HDC clinical measures available for viewing in the application.
“Intrahealth is excited about this partnership with HDC and is encouraging our Profile EMR users to take full advantage of this valuable new tool. Physicians signing up for HDC are supporting a growing number of users across the province, who are enriching the pool of data that supports improved patient outcomes and greater physician satisfaction”, says Silvio Labriola, Intrahealth’s Chief Operating Officer for North America.
HDC data is already being incorporated into coaching, mentoring and CPD modules, to support greater understanding of regional and provincial quality improvement initiatives. Physicians who use the Practice Support Program’s “Understanding Your Patient Panel” resources to improve their proficiency in managing their patient panels, will be especially well positioned to use HDC data to inform planned, proactive care when adaptors go live this fall.
HDC is currently undergoing Privacy by Design certification, a privacy and security framework that is based on international privacy legal requirements, industry best practices and privacy standards. As a part of the HDC Adaptor Project, Intrahealth is working in collaboration with the HDC to ensure that the new adaptor is fully privacy and security compliant, in keeping with Privacy by Design principles, through our people, processes, technology and governance.
