Screening measures are tools that help users monitor the development of certain health conditions and identify those patients where treatments may help in improving their outcomes. The HDC Discover App makes it simple for users to explore screening measures and access the guidelines that inform them. A key feature of the Single Measure View is the References tab, which provides links to approved guidelines to help users better understand screening recommendations and evidence-based care practices.
Since October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, let’s explore how you can use the app to review Breast Cancer Screening guidelines by navigating through the References tab:
- Log into the HDC Discover App
Start by logging into the HDC Discover App. From the QI Panel, navigate to the Screening domain where all our screening measures are listed.

- Access the Screening Domain
Scroll through the list until you find Breast Cancer Screening for different age groups. Click on any of the age groups to open the measure in detailed view.

- View the Single Measure Page
On the Single Measure View page, you will see comprehensive details about the measure, including the parameters used to create it for you.

- Explore the References Tab
To learn more about the guidelines behind this screening measure, click on the References Here, you will find resources that provide further context for the measure, including official guidelines from BC Guidelines and Protocols Advisory Committee (GPAC) - Access the BC Guidelines
Within the References section, you will find a link to the BC Cancer Screening.
